Carson Valley Golf Course  - Gardnerville, NV

One of the enjoyable parts about the game of golf that just about every golfer looks forward to is playing courses with different looks or personalities. Its always fun to see a completely different looking golf course among other courses that are all the same or similar in design. Cason Valley Golf Course is just that, instead of the open fields and rolling plains, you get a golf course that is a far cry from the status quo. Instead of fighting the high winds and the feeling of being exposed to the elements, Carson Valley Golf Course offers a break from the usual and presents an alternative.

Situated amongst century old cottonwood trees and next to the Carson River, Carson Valley can help you beat the heat and enjoy a fun round of golf as well. The course is also located in an area within the Carson Valley that is dryer and allows for a longer than normal golf season.

Carson Valley Golf Course is not the longest course you'll ever play, but the yardage can be deceiving at 6020-yards. The course is just fun to play as it weaves in and out of the cottonwood trees and you have to hit over the Carson River nine times throughout
the round, so bring a few extra golf balls. With a par of 71, Carson Valley has five par-3's that range in distance from 119 to 220-yards and the final two holes are par three's, a fun way to end the round. A unique aspect of Carson Valley is how kid and family friendly the course is, it boasts several forward tee locations so kids and beginners can sample this great game without getting beaten up, the furthest tee forward is only 1919-yards long.

Perfect for the three club golfer or maybe you just want to work on your wedges, either way, Carson Valley promises a day of fun and cooler temperatures.

Dayton Valley Golf & Country Club - Datyon, NV

The town of Dayton has grown significantly over the years, from a town of 1500 to over 20,000 in a matter of years. The town needed a focal point, a main draw per say and that draw is Dayton Valley Golf & Country Club, an Arnold Palmer Signature Course.

Dayton Valley Golf Club is cut from a different mold of courses you normally play in the Reno/Lake Tahoe area. The course is set on a flat terrain, but your experience will be anything but flat. The course is the longest running home to a PGA Tour Qualifying site, 15 years and counting. There's a reason the PGA Tour continues to come back, the course can have some sharp teeth if the prevailing winds decide to show up which can result in a three-club difference.

The course doesn't feature many trees, but rather puts an emphasis on your approach shots. For example, the fourth green is surrounded by bunkers and appears to be a tuft of grass surrounded by a large beach, so shot selection is key. The finishing stretch is one to remember with a 223-yard par three, a 451-yard par four that is normally longer with those winds and then the eighteenth, a 517-yard par five that has water down the entire side and around the green as well.

The course in general sports water on ten of the eighteen holes and the greens are commonly referred to as some of the best in the region, fast and smooth.
