The Resort at Red Hawk - Reno, NV
The Resort at Red Hawk is the only Northern Nevada golf course to be voted 8 times by Nevada Magazine as Best Golf Course in Northern Nevada. There are two courses at Red Hawk, the Lakes Course is public and the Hills Course is private.
The Lakes Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. and challenges your game with natural lakes, springs and large cottonwood trees. The course stretches a respectful 7140-yards and several holes jump out at you by just glancing at the scorecard. Tread lightly on the third hole, a 422-yard par four with an approach shot over water and the following hole is a 220-yard par three over water with the prevailing wind in your face. Don't make the mistake of counting your bets before finishing the seventeenth hole, a fierce 241-yard par three over water with little room for a bailout, truly a great golf hole.
The Resort at Red Hawk has a great tournament package known as the Total Tournament Package. From start to finish, Red Hawk's award winning facilities and staff will handle your group outing in a professional and enjoyable manner. Attention to detail and phenomenal courses are what sets tournaments at Red Hawk apart from other Reno and Sparks golf courses. In addition Red Hawk's 4,500 square-foot Events Center handles groups of up to 300.
Three-Time U.S. Open Champion Hale Irwin was instrumental in bringing soul and purpose to his Signature Design Hills Course. The Hills Course is known for its small greens, dramatic elevation changes and deep bunkers filled with "Augusta" white crushed marble.
Right out of the gate the Hills Course makes a statement with a 611-yard par five. The sixth hole is correctly called Pah Rah Pain, a 484-yard par four that is uphill will leave you in just that, pain. Don't get too comfortable at the turn with that tasty sandwich and beer in hand because the next three holes lie in wait. Fittingly called The Beast, the tenth hole is a 700-yard par five that has bunkers down the right side and is followed by a 242-yard par three that is a close relative of The Beast. And if that's not enough punishment, the final hole of this pack is a 451-yard par four. The Hills Course has a great character and feel to it that will bring you back again and again.
After your round, enjoy a beer and an award-winning H's burger at David's Grill.
